Laundry day for me usually falls on Saturday nights. Because my life is just that exciting. And because the laundry room is generally empty on Saturday nights. Sometimes a neighbor or two is in there too and these are the rare moments when my neighbors are chatty. And that I am equally chatty with them. Probably because we secretly feel sorry for each other over how pathetic it is that it is a Saturday night and we are doing laundry.
It is not so bad though. Much like vacuuming, I enjoy doing laundry. There is a sense of accomplishment when I finish it. And over time, I have found the items that make this task a little bit easier to get done and with better quality.
1. oxo Folding Sweater Dryer - This is the best thing ever! Laundry night usually ended with clothes air drying on every single surface I have. I love these stackable sweater drying racks. I have a couple of them and they fold up when not in use for easy storage.
2. method Laundry Detergent - My lack of portion control extends to adding detergent to the washing machine. The method calibrated pump detergent is basically the 100 calorie portion pack of the laundry world. I use the fragrance free + clear version of the detergent because my sensitive skin is pretty finicky.
3. 365 Stain Remover & Prewash - I have NO CLUE why this stuff works since it is from Whole Foods and cannot contain any of those magical stain-removing ingredients because they usually are not Whole Foods approved ingredients. But holy cow, this stuff has removed some deep stains that had me thinking I was going to have to throw away this shirt. Like the time I somehow wrote on the armpit of a brand new cream colored sweater with a purple pen. I nearly cried. But I doused the stain with the Stain Remover, let it soak for 15-30 minutes and then washed as normal and the ink was totally gone. I was however still pondering how I wrote in my armpit but some mysteries will never be solved. (This product is not available online and can only be bought at Whole Foods. I am sure there is probably another brand of it that is comparable but I do not know what it is.)
4. Forever New Fabric Care Wash - For anything delicate, I swear by this wash. I add a tablespoon or so of this powder to a small rubbermaid of cold water and wash whatever needs washing. And it smells nice.

I do laundry, nearly every day. Mostly because as a family of four, I don't want to have to spend an entire "day" doing it (and it would would take all day).
