A few weekends ago, I made my quarterly trek down Rockville Pike to Target. Rockville Pike is everything in my mind that is bad about the suburbs so I can really only handle driving on it once a quarter. But really the quarterly trips to Target keep me pretty organized in buying and budgeting for cleaning products, paper products, and other household staples in three-month increments. And they really cut down on the Target impulse buys that plagued me when I lived in North Carolina and had two Targets on my drive home from work.
But I still fall victim to the occasional impulse buy on these trips. And on the most recent trip, that meant I came home with a lamp. Who impulse buys a lamp?!? I bought it without a plan for where to put it so it sat in the middle of my living for over two weeks. And then I moved my desk lamp to my bedside table. And rearranged my desk a little. And it works. I think.

Very little of my desk area has changed since the great desk area remodel of Staycation 2010. A few things moved around, a few things gone, a few things added. But I sill love the gallery wall and yellow chair! (And just so you know I keep it real and not treat pictures like a House Beautiful or any other overly stylized photo shoot, you can see that there is actual trash in my garbage can.)

I love the little postcards Kate Spade includes in orders. I also really like that I consider the postcards a personal thank you note from Kate herself for buying the cutest overpriced stuff that there is. So of course I framed it (It's says "She is quick and curious and playful and strong." I am not entirely sure I am any of those things but it looks cute in a frame!)

It is super-cute lamp; you can totally understand why I impulse bought it, right?

I feel like a Target impulse buy of a lamp happens ALL THE TIME. I bought some this weekend but Mr. RH says it looks like they are for my hollywood starlet home. Which I don't have. I may have to put them to a blog vote.
ReplyDeleteI think I might know which lamps you bought. Because I had one of them in my hand and then realized I didn't live in an episode of MTV's Cribs. So I had to put it back. (Is Cribs still on?)
ReplyDeleteI hope it's still on. I could watch an all-day marathon of Cribs any day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this lamp. (Sorry that sounded a bit like Anchor Man) It's so feminine! And I too save Kate's personal notes to me. It's nice that she values us so much as friends.
ReplyDeletevery cute lamp! I love the KS postcards...I'm not sure what it means either, but it's cute! I love the typewriter picture!
ReplyDeleteWe are on the same page - I bought a turquoise lamp at Target completely on impulse this past weekend! I wish I had seen this one!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the lamp you bought on your blog and am thinking I might need it for my bedside table! There's another trip to Target in my future, I guess. ;-)
