And I'm back. Though I would imagine you did not even notice I was gone.
I was in New York City for the week for work. But managed to squeeze in a bit a fun in the evenings. Having already done the NYC tourist thing in college, the free time focus of this trip was all about the two "S"s: Sweets and Shopping! And the city is full of both. So one must be prepared with comfy but cute shoes and stretchy pants.
A trip to Eleni's Cookies in Chelsea Market for the best sugar cookies...
And a stop in Magnolia Bakery...
For a few cupcakes with some amazing tasting frosting! I tried the Grand Central cupcake. Prior to my funfetti obsession, marble cake was always my birthday cake of choice so eating this cupcake reminded me of childhood birthday! (And the frosting did NOT turn my mouth blue. Thank goodness.)
And the night before Valentine's Day was probably the worst day ever to make a trip to Dylan's Candy Bar. But that store is a sugar high that is totally necessary to visit.
And on Valentine's Day when the lines wrapped around the buildings of every chocolate shop and cupcakery in the city, the lines were longest outside Baked by Melissa for its cupcakes that are no bigger than a quarter and are the most dense cupcakes on the planet.
And the sweetest stop of all? Serendipity 3. I have wanted to go here for a frozen hot chocolateever since I watched the movie of the same name.
I thought it would be horribly touristy but it wasn't. Actually, I kind of loved it. And I really loved the Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate. Even though I could only eat about a quarter of it before I was full.
And in between all of these treats? A LOT of walking. And some time at the hotel gym. And stretchy pants.
