Joe and I are big TV fans. We have a lot of shows that we watch together and Joe likes to brag about how many shows he’s gotten me into (Prison Break, House, Big Bang Theory…). One show that I was watching before I met Joe was Bones. I love that show. The writing is witty, the characters are beyond likeable, and you can’t help but cheer for Bones & Booth to finally start dating already. I absolutely love this show. In fact, watching the show lead to me getting into the books that the show is loosely based on. The Temperance Brennan (Bones) in the books is very different from the Temperance Brennan on the show, but I love the books just as much as the show. Anyway, we’re currently in the 5th season of the show and the first 4 are out on DVD. And, since I think this is a show worth owning, my first Christmas present is Bones: The Complete Third Season on DVD (currently $18.99 on amazon.com!)…

As a newlywed, I’m really enjoying opportunities to be an adult and bring food items to parties, pot lucks, etc. And this little gem here, makes it much easier to travel with hot or cold food. (By the way, I’m an avid amazon.com shopper, can you tell?) Pyrex is great stuff to begin with, but the fact that you can make multiple items and have those items at different temperatures and then pack it all up into one convenient carrier, is just awesome. I love that I can make something to take to a party and when it gets there the hostess doesn’t have to worry about putting it into her oven and heating it up. Or, if I’m bringing potato salad or something like that, I don’t have to worry about it spoiling on the way to a BBQ. I highly, highly recommend this product.(Rebecca's Note: I LOVE Pyrex!!!!)

So, from here, I will let my other half, Joe, take the reins…

You can never have too many Wii party games. However, Rock Band is not everyone’s cup of tea. So check this out!!! Most of Generations X and Y grew up with the Super Mario Brothers game for the old 8-bit Nintendo. This game comes the closest to recreating that magic for the Wii… right down to the left-to-right scrolling backgrounds. But instead of Luigi having to wait for Mario’s turn to be over so he can play, up to 4 players can be on the screen at the same time.

Now to the super-awesome splurge gift. And while we do need a new dryer that doesn’t have to run for more than 2 hours just to dry socks and underpants, where’s the fun in that? Behold! To borrow a phrase from any of a number of HGTV shows, this LED TV would really help us turn our basement into a space to entertain, as opposed to the glorified dorm room it kind of is now (complete with the 20-inch TV with the busted A/V jack leftover from my actual dorm room). We’re talking serious man-cave here suitable for any sporting event or movie marathon (or even Bones Season 3). And, to keep with the environmentally friendly theme of Rebecca’s blog overall, this LED model uses approximately 40% less energy than similarly sized LCD sets!

So, from Joe and Katie, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Festivus, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy New Year!!

Joe and Katie happen to be at Disney World...one of the bridesmaids in their wedding is one of the characters at Disney World. First of all, bravo to them for escaping to the sunny South during a weekend when the D.C. weather is akin the Wisconsin early December rather than you know, D.C. in early December. Second, they texted me today that there is an ENTIRE store of LittleMissMatched Socks in Downtown Disney. How fantastic is that!!!!!

  1. That store was AWESOME! Not only did they have more socks than I've ever seen in one store, but they had MissMatched pajama sets and individual pieces that you could put together to make your "set" as well. They also had Ugg type boots that were MissMatched and really cute desks made out of whiteboard material! SOOO cool.

And we had a blast in Disney even though it was in the low 50s and raining all day Friday and most of Saturday. The only day that we were outside most of the day, it was sunny and 75 and we were heading home. Figures.

  2. I have a Pyrex portable 9x13, but I didn't know they made a double decker!! I just used mine a little while ago for a salad for a party and I wanted to add the cheese, croutons and dressing right before serving and I couldn't stuff it all into the carrier (plus tongs for serving), but a double decker would work, or I could use it as it was intended.
