Laura is the newest person in our office. But her reign as such will end on Monday when our newest person (whose name I can never ever remember) is starting. Laura sits on the other side of my cubicle wall so I fairly certain she is already tired of listing to me talking to my various visitors about cupcakes, Anthropologie, Boden, and Gossip Girl.
Presenting Laura's Gift List:
"Up" DVD ($19.99)- This movie was soooooo great! I went to see it with my sisters and Dad. It's funny but will also touch your heart (yes I teared up a few times). I also have to say as a dog lover, the way that they made the dogs "vocal" in this movie was perfect. I definitely want this movie on DVD!! (Rebecca's Note: This movie is fantastic! And yes, I cried too! )
Wii Controller ($35.99)- I think maybe if you add the nunchuck with the controller it would be exactly $50 but I really only need another Wii controller (nunchuck is optional) which would make it I think $30. I have 2 controllers but I just got a pretty awesome game where if you want to be able to play with 4 people you need 4 controllers. I don't plan on buying one for myself right away...but at the same time that makes it a pretty good idea for a Christmas gift that I would TOTALLY appreciate.
Ann Taylor Loft Gift Card - I know a lot of people say gift cards are impersonal but I say...if you know a person loves a store....go for it. Especially if that person has lived her life with a t-shirt and jeans "comfy" wardrobe and just entered the professional world.....::cough cough::....But honestly I LOVE LOFT right now and have been trying to expand my work wardrobe....so I would appreciate this gift....big time. (Rebecca's note: I have to admit that Ann Taylor Loft has come a LONG in a very short period of time. A few years ago when the Loft styles were notsogood, there was a line in the Washington Post that seriously cracked me up: "Ann Taylor Loft: Where you are no longer a woman, you are an employee of the Federal government" which was SOOOO true in DC. Everyone on Metro had the same boring ATL suit. Now, ATL has all of these beautiful pieces infused with ruffles and rosettes and sparkles, oh my!)
Pandora One Subscription - Ok....I have been REALLY into Pandora at work (and even at home doing chores)...but not so into their ads lately...nor the 40 hr listening limit...nor the skip song limit...I have been fiddling with the idea of buying the $36 Pandora One subscription.....but I have stuck with the $0.99 unlimited rest of the month (non ad or skip free) for a while...and I think I might go for the $36 once I survive Christmas shopping. I'm not so sure you can actually "gift" this yet.......but Pandora should work that out...because I would be really excited about it.
Splurge
Something that could play my Netflix to my TV. I have been really bad at using my Netflix lately because of my love affair with my DVR and I think that if I could watch my online movie queue on my living room TV that would make me feel better haha. A Rokuplayer is about $100 and designed just for Netflix....however I wouldn't be sad if someone wanted to get me an Xbox instead....considering I could play "One vs 100" with my sister & her boyfriend, entertain my Xbox loving friend, AND get Netflix to my TV. That would be about $200 I think (I believe Xbox dropped their price down to $199). However I have a Wii so the Xbox is not like the MUST thing. I much prefer Wii gaming. A blue-ray player would be my third choice but that’s because I don't have a fancy pants TV and don't want to feel obligated to purchase more expensive blue-ray DVDs quite yet. I'm not ready haha. Maybe a fancy pants TV will be my next year splurge wish... Another less huge splurge would be maybe a nice digital picture frame.
Thanks for sharing your list, Laura. And no worries, I do not have a fancy pant TV either. Mine is downright archaic, purchased from my next door neighbor in grad school who was moving back to Austria. I think I paid $50.
And huge thanks to ALL of my office pals for sharing their Christmas lists. Stop back tonight for today’s giveaway!
